About Us

[snoh-drop] -noun
any of several early-blooming plants having white bell-shaped flowers that blossom in early spring, heralding in the change of the seasons.

Snowdrops was founded in late 2009 by Hazel Luff and Stephanie Susan Woods to serve the Transgender community, encompassing support for partners, family and friends in Pembrokeshire and the West Wales counties.  It was also hoped that as the group matured it could be a point of reference for individuals, organisations and other associations as a contact point for information, help and support.

After consultation with the venue’s committee, a new home was established for Snowdrops and the first meeting took place in February 2010.  We now hold regular meetings every second Saturday of every month.

Since the Swansea ‘Sparkle’ event in November 2012 the group has been engaging with Pembrokeshire County Council, Dyfed-Powys Police, Hywel Dda Health Board, Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS)Pembrokeshire Mind, The Samaritans, The Beaumont Society, The Unity Project, Transgender in Wales (TIG) and Tawe Butterflies to raise awareness of Transgender community issues.

Since July 2012, due to ill health, Hazel has stepped down from the running of Snowdrops.  Since this time Marie and Lorraine Knight have supported the running of the organisation along with founder member, Stephanie Susan Woods.
